The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seven officers from the Tema Regional Police Command for what authorities have termed “exceptional operational performance” during a response to an armed robbery in Tema.

The promotions, which were made public on April 14, 2026, are a result of a recent anti-robbery operation at Tema Community 5, where officers intervened in an assault on a Mobile Money vendor that escalated into a shootout with the suspects.

As reported by the Ghana Police Service, this confrontation resulted in the shooting of two robbery suspects and the retrieval of a firearm, ammunition, and other evidence associated with the crime.

The officers who received promotions include Chief Inspector Enoch Nartey Nuer, Inspector Gershon Dekpey, Inspector Prince Asante, Sergeant Lukman Mohammed, Sergeant Eugene Kuudouru, Corporal Jerome Akator, and Lance Corporal Jonathan Sewurah.

The Police Management Board (POMAB), in conjunction with the IGP, commended the officers, lauding their conduct during the operation and their ability to respond effectively under pressure.

“The officers responded to a robbery attack on a Mobile Money vendor at Tema Community 5, leading to the shooting of two robbery suspects and the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and other exhibits,” stated the service.

The IGP encouraged the officers to regard their promotion as a duty that extends beyond personal gain, urging personnel throughout the service to uphold discipline and professionalism in their ongoing operations.

This acknowledgement occurs as the Ghana Police intensifies its initiatives to combat violent street crime and armed robbery incidents in urban and commercial regions, particularly within the Tema area.
