The Ashaiman District Police Command has demolished structures believed to be used as criminal hideouts at Fitter-Line as part of efforts to combat crime ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The operation took place at about 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, and was led by District Commander DSP Orlando Joseph Adzokpa.
A total of 30 police personnel took part in the exercise.
According to the police, the operation targeted suspected criminals believed to be terrorising residents in and around Ashaiman.
The aim was to dismantle their hideouts and improve security in the area ahead of the festive season.
The police said the suspects fled when they saw the approaching team, leaving officers unable to make any arrests.
However, the structures identified as suspected hideouts were demolished.
The operation ended at about 8:40 a.m. without any incident.
The command said similar exercises would continue as part of its efforts to reduce crime and ensure residents can go about their daily activities and conduct legitimate businesses without fear or intimidation.
The police added that the operations were intended to maintain public safety before, during and after the Christmas festivities.
