I know the type of love i want, and i won’t settle

As we enter 2025, I dream about the adventures I’ll go on, the stories I’ll create, and the people I’ll meet. But the thought that constantly pops into my head right now is, “Will this be the year when I find love?”

Love hasn’t really been my thing. It’s not that guys don’t like me or that there aren’t people I could love romantically. I just haven’t yet found someone I fully mesh with — someone who fills in the gaps in my life.

After being single for so long, I’d love to have someone to call my own. I’d love to have the kind of love story from the movies. But I’ve finally narrowed down the type of person I want to be with.

I need someone who will love me loudly. Someone who isn’t afraid to go to extremes to show me how much they care. I’m looking for someone who won’t just love me quietly but will also cherish me when the world feels like it’s falling apart. And I need a pair of strong arms to hold me.

I want someone who makes life an adventure.
My ideal partner will be up for last-minute ice cream breaks, will support my crazy ideas, and will let me say “hello” to every dog I see.

Of course, I need someone who will accept me for who I am. I want my partner to see every version of me—loud, quiet, goofy, overthinking—and still choose me every day.

I don’t need someone perfect; I need someone perfect for me. Someone who knows that when I say I’m “fine,” I probably need a hug. Someone who will learn my coffee order by heart — just because. I need someone who understands that I love hard and I expect to be loved just as hard in return.

I won’t settle for “halfway love.”
I won’t settle for a relationship that feels like missing something. I want a love that makes life feel even more vibrant and turns the ordinary into magic. I want a love that makes every moment with my partner feel like home like the world slows down when I see my person. I want hand-holding, forehead-kissing, flowers-as-a-just-because-gift love. I want a love that exists because my person truly sees me and never makes me question how they feel.

I know that love’s out there waiting for me. I understand that the kind of love I want exists because I’ve seen glimpses of it in how my favorite couples interact and in the romantic stories that make my heart ache in the best way.

More than anything, I know that I deserve a strong, unwavering, fun romance. I deserve to be with someone who chooses me every day, not because they have to but because they don’t want anyone else. I won’t settle. I won’t settle for almost, for good enough, or for anything less than real, deep, once-in-a-lifetime love. And when that person comes along — the one who meets me where I am and makes my world brighter just by being in it — I’ll know. I’ll be able to tell that they’re one of the good ones, and I deserve to keep them.
