How to actually trust yourself when making big decisions

You have to trust yourself when making big life decisions. We all have to deal with making tough decisions, whether in our personal lives or careers. It’s terrifying because you’re going back and forth every other day, wondering if you’re making the best decision for yourself or your family,

I first really dealt with this regarding my writing career.
When I started, I was scared to do it; so scared that before starting, I founded and ran a group in my community for a decade. I loved that job. It was my baby and will always be a big part of my heart.

In 2015, I went to my two friends who helped me run the group and knew me better than I knew myself sometimes. I told them I was starting a writing career. They were both incredibly supportive of me, which I appreciated so much. At that point in time, I was still running the group, burnt out, and I turned to writing as an outlet, and I wanted to take the leap and turn it into a new career,

When I asked them if I should use the group’s social media platform to start this new career path, they said no. The group already has an established fanbase and social channels.

They both suggested I should go out on my own. Deep down, I knew that was the right way to go. I trusted myself and just needed some support and reassurance in this big life decision. Now, the rest is history.

That was when I realized something: When making any big life decision, I usually already know what to do. Deep down, I know which choice is right, no matter the outcome. However, I still need that reassurance that I am doing what’s best for me, even if it doesn’t feel right or people don’t understand it. It’s perfectly okay to feel that way at first. In fact, I think it’s normal.

If we are honest with ourselves, we never fully trust ourselves with big or small decisions. We will probably never reach that point in our lives.
Why do I say that? There are two reasons: We are in our heads way too much. We crave feedback from those who matter most to us regarding our decisions. We want to know whether we’re making the right choice.

How can we trust ourselves more as individuals and as a society when making big decisions? We should get out of our heads, get encouragement from people we love and trust, and believe that this is the best decision for us right now.

Everyone needs to put this into practice, no matter how challenging it may seem. But once it’s done, you will trust yourself more, especially when it matters the most.
