I abandoned law for acting – Jagger Pee

Veteran Ghanaian actor, Jagger Pee, has revealed that he once dreamed of becoming a lawyer before switching to acting.

Speaking on UTV, he said academic challenges forced him to rethink his plans.

“Growing up, I wanted to be a lawyer. I later realised that I wasn’t academically good, so I had to divert into acting,” he said.

Jagger Pee explained that his love for acting started early through school and church performances. He recalled playing key roles in biblical dramas, including Joseph, during a Christmas play in primary school.

“When I was in primary school, we staged the birth of Jesus Christ, and I played the role of Joseph,” he said.

His passion continued in secondary school, where he joined the drama group and took part in several stage productions. He later played Jesus in church performances, which further strengthened his interest in acting.

“That’s when I realised that my interest is in acting,” he added.

According to him, his professional journey began in 1984 at the Arts Centre, where he performed on stage and started building his career.

He later joined a theatre group that used a payroll system to pay actors.

“In the group, they put everyone on a payroll, so whether you perform or not, they still paid us,” he said.
