Madina MP Sosu questions High Court directive on OSP prosecutions

The Member of Parliament representing Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has expressed his dissatisfaction with a recent directive from the High Court that mandates the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to transfer all current prosecutions to the Attorney-General’s Department.

This directive, which is part of a legal challenge regarding the prosecutorial powers of the OSP, has ignited a renewed discussion about its possible effects on Ghana’s anti-corruption efforts.

In a response shared on social media, Mr. Sosu, who is also a lawyer, voiced his apprehensions regarding the potential consequences of the ruling on the fight against corruption, indicating that the decision might jeopardise the advancements achieved thus far.

“I disagree with this decision. How does this support our anti-corruption campaign? What does it add to it? Politics and governance. May God help us. We all want the best for Ghana,” he wrote.
