Call off strike for Ghanaians’ sake — Tema Central MP to GUTA

The Member of Parliament for Tema Central, Charles Forson, has called on the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) and other trader groups to reconsider their ongoing strike.

In an interview on Tuesday, April 14, he urged them to take public concerns into account and consider temporarily suspending the action.

He acknowledged that the right to strike is valid, but stressed that its impact on ordinary citizens cannot be overlooked.

According to him, strikes often disrupt the economy and can make living conditions more difficult for many people.

Mr. Forson added that his position is based on national interest, not politics, noting that he would not support any action that harms the country, even from the opposition.

He also encouraged GUTA and other stakeholders to engage with the appropriate authorities to find a lasting solution.

He further urged the association to “put a human face” on their actions and consider the broader consequences of the strike on businesses and daily life.

“Put a human face to the strike and end it because strikes in any form affect the economy and the standard of living of people,” he added.
