The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is reportedly on the verge of announcing a new head coach for the Ghana national football team, with a final decision expected today.

The development comes after weeks of speculation, consultations, and evaluations aimed at finding the right candidate to steer Ghana’s senior national team back to consistent success. This new head coach appointment comes after the previous head coach, Otto Addo was sacked after 2:1 loss against Germany in the just ended world cup friendlies.

GFA has indicated that the selection process has been rigorous, involving both local and international candidates. The search follows growing pressure from fans and stakeholders who have called for a fresh direction after recent inconsistent performances in major competitions.

According to GFA sources, two former Portuguese national team coaches, Carlos Queiroz and Fernando Santos alongside Paulo Bento, former South Korea national team coach have all been linked to the Blackstars job.

Carlos is experienced at international football, aside Portugal, he has headed the Iran, Egypt and other national teams. Fernando Santos on the other hand won UEFA Euro 2016 with Portugal, this makes his tournament-winning experience a proven option.

The next coach is expected to not only rebuild confidence within the squad but also implement a clear tactical philosophy that aligns with Ghana’s football identity. The next coach is expected to bring a short-term plan to prepare the Blackstars for the world cup tournament.

While the GFA has yet to officially confirm the name, anticipation continues to build across the country. Fans are eager to see whether the chosen candidate will bring the discipline, innovation, and leadership required to return the Black Stars to their former glory.

An official announcement is expected later today, potentially marking the beginning of a new era for Ghanaian football.
