Anti-LGBTQI+ saga: NDC owes Ghanaians an apology for lying — Nana B

The National Organiser for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has noted that the government’s stance on anti-LGBTQI+ is an affront to the citizens of Ghana.

He finds it astonishing that the government has altered its position after deceiving the people of Ghana to secure electoral victory.

He asserts that John Dramani Mahama and his administration owe the citizens of Ghana an apology for this shift in their stance.

In a Facebook post, he remarked, “The statement by Felix Kwakye Ofosu suggesting that LGBTQ+ issues are ‘not a priority for Ghanaians’ is not only disappointing but a grave insult to the intelligence of Ghanaians. This insult is coming from Prez Mahama and the NDC, who during the 2024 election campaign negatively weaponised LGBTQ issues for electoral fortunes”.

“To suggest that such a sensitive national conversation is ‘not a priority’ is, frankly, an insult to the intelligence and concerns of the Clergy, Imams, other religious leaders, and Ghanaians. Leadership is not about dismissing issues. It is about confronting them with clarity, courage, and consistency. The people of Ghana expect honesty, not convenient rhetoric. If this government cannot stand by the very positions it championed while seeking power, then it owes the nation an apology.”
