Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), responding to what he describes as a strong call from party faithful.
In a formal statement addressed to party members, Abdul-Hamid revealed that his decision comes after “persistent calls” from the grassroots urging him to step forward and contribute to the party’s rebuilding efforts.
“In the past few days, there have been persistent calls for me to run for office as a national executive member of our great party. I have listened.”
He added that his ambition is not driven by personal interest but by a deep sense of duty to the party.
“This is not an ambition born of personal gain, but a desire to give back to the party, what it has invested in me.”
Mustapha Abdul-Hamid also highlighted his long-standing history within the NPP, noting that he has been part of the party since its formation in 1992 and has served in various capacities, including as a spokesperson for former President Nana Akufo-Addo and as a deputy national campaign manager during the 2020 elections.
Reflecting on his political journey, he acknowledged both victories and setbacks.
“I have been forged in the fire of battle. I have won some and lost some. I have the scars to show.”
Positioning himself as a candidate with intellectual depth and strategic insight, he expressed confidence in his ability to support the party’s leadership.
“I believe I have enough intellectual firepower to give covering fire to whoever will be elected as chairman.”
He concluded with a call for unity and internal reform within the party, stressing that the path to national recovery begins from within the NPP itself.
“Together, we shall re-strategise, rebuild, and re-organise and return this party to its rightful place… The battle to recover our nation begins from within.”
