Clarify your position on LGBTQ+ — Religious leader urges Mahama

Bishop Dr. Samuel N. Mensah, who leads the Board of Trustees of the Full Gospel Church International (FGCI), has asked President John Dramani Mahama to clearly state his position on LGBTQ+ issues.

In a statement released on April 1, 2026, the Bishop said this request is based on promises President Mahama made when he met with church leaders before the 2024 elections.

He explained that those meetings were not just about politics, but were serious conversations built on trust, shared beliefs, and moral responsibility.

Bishop Mensah said being a leader is not only about running the country but also about showing strong moral direction. He urged the President to stand by the promises he made to God, the clergy, and the people of Ghana.

He also said that being clear on this issue is very important. According to him, staying silent or being unclear can confuse people, especially those in the Christian community.

The Bishop pointed out that Ghana is a country that values faith, family, and culture. Because of this, he believes leaders should reflect what most people in the country believe in.

He then encouraged President Mahama to speak openly and give a clear and firm position that matches what he said before and what many Ghanaians believe.
